Whitepaper on the National Blockchain Policy

National Blockchain Policy

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy is pleased to announce the release of the Whitepaper on the development of Nigeria’s National Blockchain Policy (NBP). This document outlines our efforts to establish a structured, inclusive, and forward-looking framework for Blockchain adoption in Nigeria, building on the foundational work of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through the National Blockchain Strategy published in 2024.

The Whitepaper details a collaborative and consultative process that engages Blockchain experts of Nigerian descent globally, alongside stakeholders from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector. This approach ensures that the National Blockchain Policy is both technically robust and contextually relevant, aligning with our nation’s developmental goals and the realities of its digital economy.

The Policy seeks to address key areas including electronic transactions, digital identity, supply chain transparency, financial inclusion, and innovation in governance. It aims to facilitate comprehensive policy development, promote public trust and awareness, and encourage the creation of innovative Blockchain solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique challenges and opportunities.

The Ministry invites all stakeholders and the general public to review the Whitepaper and participate in shaping the future of Blockchain adoption in Nigeria.
