The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, in collaboration with Data Science Nigeria and support of Google.org, has announced the launch of the first cohort of the DeepTech_Ready Upskilling programme. The announcement marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards becoming a global hub for digital skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The DeepTech_Ready Upskilling programme is part of the more significant commitment to advancing AI talent in Nigeria, supported by the N2.8 billion grant from Google.org announced last October. This funding is critical to Google.org’s $5.8 million investment to empower Africa’s digital transformation.

“The launch of the DeepTech_Ready program represents a tangible realization of our collective vision to position Nigeria at the forefront of the global digital economy,” said Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy. “With Google.org’s support, we are not only nurturing the next generation of AI and data science leaders but also ensuring that Nigeria harnesses the full potential of AI technologies for economic growth and societal betterment.”

The DeepTech_Ready Upskilling Program will provide 20,000 young Nigerians with advanced technical skills in Data Science and AI over successive cohorts. Each cohort will engage in a rigorous 6-month curriculum, including self-paced and on-site supported learning, project-based immersion, and job readiness support, ensuring that fellows are primed for high-demand tech roles in the global digital economy.
